Students perform a short solo (5-7 minute max.) and get feedback from Mitchell Estrin.
Piano required if unless the solo is an unaccompanied work.

"Michael's masterclasses center around being a great performer as well as a great instrumentalist. Other weight is placed on creative use of improvisation (even in notated music when appropriate), extended techniques, finding the "funk" in rhythmic music, and discovering an independent voice as a musician. Students will perform a selection from the standard orchestral audition repertoire for feedback from Michael Webster.
Students perform only with completed application.  Space is limited.  (See website for details.) Selected students must prepare at least three of the following excerpts: Beethoven Symphonies 6 and 8, Brahms Symphony 3, Mendelssohn Scherzo from Midsummer Night's Dream, Stravinsky Firebird Variation, Respighi Pines of Rome, and Kodaly Dances of Galanta.
