  Nathan Beaty

Nathan Beaty received his Bachelor of Music in Performance from Texas Tech University in 2008 and his Master of Music in Orchestral Training from McGill University in 2010.  Mr. Beaty is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Music Performance from the University of North Texas.  Mr. Beaty’s primary teachers have been David Shea (Texas Tech University), Alain Desgagne (Associate Principal of the Montreal Symphony), and John Scott (Professor of Clarinet, University of North Texas).

Mr. Beaty has travelled across North America to study and perform at several first-rate music festivals, gaining a unique and well-rounded perspective on music and the clarinet.  Mr. Beaty has attended the Symphony Orchestra Academy of the Pacific (Powell River, British Columbia, 2006 and 2007), Rocky Ridge Music Festival (Estes Park, Colorado, 2009), and Domaine Forget (Quebec, Canada, 2009 and 2010).  During these festivals Mr. Beaty studied with Robert Spring, Eric Mandat, David Shea, Paul Meyer, Jean-Francois Normand, Marie Picard, Laurie Bloom, and Alain Desgagne.  Mr. Beaty has also been in master classes and brief study with Eli Eban, Howard Klug, Ilia Shterenberg, and Larry Mentzer.

In addition to extensive study of solo, chamber, and orchestral music for the clarinet, Mr. Beaty has been studying mouthpiece refacing with master technician Bradford Behn since early 2010.  Always in search of a better playing experience, Mr. Beaty has an extensive mouthpiece collection ranging from highly sought after vintage mouthpieces to the best the modern market has to offer.  Seeking a playing experience that emphasizes efficiency and resonance, Mr. Beaty has been refacing and customizing both modern and vintage clarinet mouthpieces, including Eb and Bass, since his study with Bradford Behn.

Currently, Mr. Beaty can be seen performing in Solo Recitals, the University of North Texas Symphony Orchestra, and is the Solo Eb player with the Dallas Civic Wind Ensemble.
