Students who do not get a spot in the class will have their application fee returned only in person at the event registration (forfeited fees will be donated to the 2013 TCC event.)

Solos must be performed with an accompanist (unless the solo work is an unaccompanied solo). Participants who would like to use a TCC pianist for the competition should contact Dr. Druhan for information regarding fees and rehearsals.

"Bass Clarinet Masterclass" presented by Michael Lowenstern

A Masterclass is an opportunityfor a student to perform music for a guest artist in front of a class of other students and teachers. It is similar to a short private lesson and similar to a solo performance. A masterclass participant typically gets coached by the guest artist for 10-15 minutes and then another student has a chance to perform and get feedback.

Michael's masterclasses center around being a great performer as well as a great instrumentalist. Other weight is placed on creative use of improvisation (even in notated music when appropriate), extended techniques, finding the "funk" in rhythmic music, and discovering an independent voice as a musician. Lots of dogma.

Bass clarinet students enrolled in a Texas High School, grades 9-12, and Collegiate students are eligible to perform for the "Bass Clarinet Masterclass" but must complete the application process by the deadline! Students must:

1) complete the application,

2) submit the entry fee ($10 cash, check, or money order), and
