Nichole Grooms received a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degree from the University of Oklahoma with a special emphasis in clarinet performance. Her primary teachers include David Etheridge, József Balogh, Jack Bradley and Andy Crisanti.
As a performer, Nichole has given solo recitals in Philadelphia and throughout the southern U.S. including Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. Her European performances include a guest artist appearance for the QSI-headquarters in Ljubljana, Slovenia in 2007 and an Italian orchestra tour in 2001.
During her time at the OU, Nichole served as the sessions and masterclass coordinator for the Oklahoma Clarinet Symposium (2007-2010). Continuing in the footsteps of her teacher David Etheridge, Nichole is a passionate and successful clarinet teacher. Her teaching successes include an almost perfect record for students in the All-State band/orchestra and several student admittances into reputable colligate music programs. Currently, Nichole teaches in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
Aside from clarinet, Nichole is also a graduate music theory student studying under Michael Klein at Temple University (presently on faculty at Indiana University). Her upcoming work focuses on the writings of Deleuze and Guattari as a philosophical platform for a narrative analysis of Mahler’s First Symphony.
